I got my birthday nails done on the Monday before my birthday, so a bit over a week now. I initially wanted cupcakes and other sweet things, but I wanted them in the form of fimo clay slices. The problem was, I couldn't find ANY cute canes or precut slices online. I found one semi-cute wheel with some slices, but you didn't get many (only about 2 slices per design) for the price and they weren't as awesome as I'd like. And the cupcakes I found were NOT cute. They were brown and white and just... blah. Then I decided that the perfect thing for me would be Hello Kitty! I went in asking for Hello Kitty, zebra stripes, and jewels and was informed by Amanda that she had learned leopard spots so we opted to try those out.
At first we tried the leopard with 2 shades of purple, and with white outline and black outline - the combination we chose is obviously the one you see below. We also did a free-standing Hello Kitty face as first, but when the shape seemed to be giving Amanda a hard time, we went with it the way it is in the pictures. I didn't really care if we went with pink or purple acrylic on my tips, but I knew I wanted one of the two - I'm glad Amanda chose purple. I also love her ability to truly make things, like the jewels, look scattered. I've seen attempts by people (including myself) to make things like that look randomly placed and not repetitive, but that have failed and Amanda seems to have a knack for it.
I love Love LOVE the way my nails turned out! They're super sparkly thanks to the glitter. They've got extra bling with the jewels. The leopard spots add some more texture. And the Hello Kitty face is just the icing on the cake! Thank you so much to Amanda at Athena Salon & Spa!
