Review: ELF Studio Lengthening & Volumizing mascara

Those of you who caught my recent ELF haul and have seen my reviews were likely expecting this. We all know that I love mascara reviews! And really, it's been a bit since my last review, hasn't it? So let's get to it...

I picked ELF Studio Lengthening & Volumizing mascara up about 2 weeks ago and have used it several times since. My initial reaction was that it was boring. It claims to be lengthening and volumizing, but honestly, I don't think it does much of either. I feel like it just coats my lashes a bit, and the only difference after I've put it on is that my eyelashes have gone from blonde to black. It doesn't clump and keeps my lashes pretty separated.

After wearing it a few days, I noticed that my eyes started to water randomly. I cannot say for sure it was the mascara, but I took a break from it for a couple of days and my eyes didn't water... They did once I resumed wearing the mascara. It could be the fluctuation in weather and the effect that has on the air (I have mild allergies). But I think it was likely the mascara. It didn't seem to flake visibly, so perhaps it was really tiny bits that did and got into my eye, but it also didn't sting.

The price, of course, is amazing. It's only $3.00! That's what really got me to buy it and try it. Let me show you what you'll be getting if you decide to pick it up, too...

For the price, I think that this mascara is definitely worth trying. You aren't losing much if it doesn't work out for you. I think it's a good mascara to pair with false eyelashes, because it'll keep your eyelashes more simple looking, and IMO easier to blend with the falsies. Hopefully the mascara doesn't bother your eyes, and I admit that I do not know for sure if it was what was bothering mine. But because this mascara doesn't add anything but color to my eyelashes, and it may have been stingin' me, I've got to give this a...

  1. That's definitely not something I'd expect for a $3 mascara. I wouldn't mind trying it out for daytime wear. Thanks!

  2. I'm assuming this is the non-waterproof version? Weird that you had a reaction... I got the waterproof randomly when I forgot to put on mascara, and it was SO dry. I wanted to try this version but if you had eye issues... maybe not =/
