Review: ELF Studio Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder

Yup, another thing to review from my ELF haul. This time it's the contouring blush and bronzing powder, from the studio line. I had high hopes for this product. It looks really nice, and I know that a lot of people use it. But I'm not entirely pleased with it, unfortunately.

I love the blush color. It's super pretty and I think it's a color that will flatter pretty much everyone. It's a nice peachyish pink with some shimmer to it. The bronzer is a nice color too, but I would only use it as a blush because it's shimmery. I really don't like shimmery bronzers. I prefer a natural or matte face; I don't want to be super shiny, especially as my skin tends to be on the oily side. I'm not sure why they call it a "contouring blush and bronzing powder". The brown shade is definitely not suitable (IMO) for either a contour or a bronzer, because of the amount of shimmer. When I try to use it all over my face, I feel that it makes me look... dirty. See?

Just not what a bronzer should look like, to me.

Both sides of the product are on the softer side, in terms of texture, which is attributed to the shimmery finish. Matte products tend to be packed harder. Still, they're not so soft that with the right brush (as in, not this one but rather one like this), you don't lose product. They're also really easy to blend on the skin. They wear well, and the color payoff is really nice, especially at just $3.00 for the compact.

I do really like the blush and I'd have paid the $3 for that alone. But I'm sad that the "bronzer" can't be used as such (due to my preferences) or as a contour due to the amount of sheen it gives off. I do still like the brown shade as a blush, but don't like how the it's marketed. So in the end, I'll give this product...
