Yandy.com

A couple of months ago I ordered a costume (for a party) at Yandy.com and had a great experience so I thought I'd share :)

I found that they had a really nice selection of plus size items (costumes, lingerie) and other items not relating to being big or small (like shoes).

The prices were average, not outrageously expensive like most plus size stores/sites are.

I can't really say how the shipping time was, because I specifically asked for 2 day shipping, however it DID arrive within those 2 days. I know that it's supposed to, but in my experience with other websites, that doesn't always happen.

I also had a worry/concern with my order, and the email I sent was replied to the next day (I sent it late at night) and was very courteous. Good customer service :)

So anywho, just a quick blurb of a recommendation since Halloween will be here before ya know it! Plus they have things besides costumes that are definitely worth looking at.

Go to http://www.yandy.com to check it out!

Haul - 7/19/09

I went to MAC on the 19th of this month. I was originally stopping by to get 2 things on my way to Sephora, but I ended up spending a lot more time there, of course. Surprise surprise lol. $300 later...

I was going to just pick up an eyebrow pencil, because I lost mine and have been using a cheap backup, and a 109 brush. Well, they had the pencil but not the brush :( They (a counter) never got it with their Color Craft shipment. Neither did the other counter in our city. Laaaame.

I was going to Sephora in hopes of getting a sample of both MUFE Mat Velvet and MUFE HD. I've been looking for something without any SPF (to prevent looking white from a camera flash) and I needed something darker than what I have anyway because my skin has gotten darker from being out in the sun so much. Well, at MAC I decided to try out Studio Tech. I figured MAC is closer to me than Sephora, by about half an hour, and it's cheaper than MUFE. So I'm using that right now to see how I like it. I'll take it back if I decide it isn't for me and then go with the MUFE samples at that time. But hopefully this'll work for the reasons I just stated :)

So anywho, on to the haul!

First up, the Studio Tech in NC27. I could have even gone to NC30 and I'm wishing just a little bit that I had. But this works fine with bronzer and blush and all that.

Next I got Select Cover Up concealer in NW25, strictly for use under my eyes.

I wanted a new setting powder. I like my loose blot powder and I like my Studio Fix Powder, but I wanted another option. Something pressed and not full coverage... Basically like combining the loose blot powder with the SF. So I got Mineralize Skin Finish Natural in medium.

I've never had a mineralized blush before, so I picked up two from the Color Craft collection. The first one I saw, swatched, and wanted was Porceline Pink. Very pretty.

Then the MUA asked if I liked Cheeky Bronze. She said it would look good on me. I honestly hadn't even noticed it... I'm drawn to pinks lol. But I swatched it and I really liked it, so I got that too. Shame on me lol.

I have oily skin, so I asked the MUA if she'd used their Oil Control Lotion and she said she hadn't, as she doesn't have oily skin, but that another MUA there uses it and likes it. So I got that, too.

Picked up some more Fix+ because I'm running low.

I decided I'm lacking in good brown eyeshadows, so I grabbed Sable...

...and Antiqued

The one item I originally went for that they had was my Lingering brow pencil

And last, I picked up a brush roll. I wanted and needed one, but I certainly did not need a $45 MAC brush roll. Geez. What an impulse buy! I didn't get great pictures of it because my batteries started dying, so I just rushed through. Sorry!

Brush slots

Flap down

Open pocket

Zipper pocket

So anyway, that's it for my haul. Not the funnest stuff, but I'm happy with all of it. If you have any of the items, feel free to share with me what you do or don't like about them. And of course ask any questions you may have.

The difference 3 months can make :)

Look at the color difference in my skin!

April

July

I mean, I realized it was a difference when I went from NC20 to *almost* NC30, but seeing the pictures right next to each other makes it a lot more obvious. Definitely enjoying the sun this summer :)

Behind the times - My 4th of July look

I know I know, I'm waaaay late on posting it. Oops! Oh well, better late than never, right? Right.
I remembered because I had entered it in a challenge in Glamour Land and the voting just started. So feel free to vote for me lol

There was white and blue glitter on my lower lash line, but of course it didn’t photograph well.

Now, my foundation IS off right now. As in, it is lighter than it need to be. BUT BUT BUT it’s not THAT much lighter. That’s just the tricky flash and the SPF in the foundation that we're all aware of. I’m going to head to Sephora this week or next to remedy that... Need something darker with no SPF.

Lastly, I saw after this that Queen of Blending's 4th look was INCREDIBLY similar to mine. I think the only difference is she used silver glitter where I used white.

Illamasqua coming to Sephora!

Hot off the presses! (aka the Sephora blog lol)

COMING SOON TO SEPHORA: Illamasqua

At long last, the uber-artistic Brit beauty brand Illamasqua is making its way to U.S. shores via yours truly -- Sephora! (Who else did ya think?) As expected, in-the-know beauty junkies across the nation obsessed with the brand knew it was just a matter of time before their pretty wishes would come true. Known for their night time makeup and dark, artistic persona (think 1920's Berlin), Illamasqua is all about individuality and, as they say, "finding your alter ego." Expect the unexpected with this makeup line: emerald polishes, beyond swoopy false lashes, plum-black lip shades, and stage-worthy eye makeup in vivid, dance club-worthy colors. Think of it as your ultimate nighttime makeup brand. Shop the entire line July 21st on Sephora.com, or at our new Times Square store on July 30. It'll also be available in more stores come Fall. Want a sneak peek? Check out these gorgeous looks we're featuring on their Brand Boutique on Sephora.com. SO gorgeous, right? I am totally rockin' those emerald digits and baby blue lashes. Sigh. Can't wait. - Joannie McIntyre

This is so exciting! I cannot wait! Anyone else? What products are you wanting to try?

(PS I know you can order from the Illamasqua site, but it's not something I've wanted to deal with as far as exchange rates and stuff go)

Quick note

In addition to switching my URL over from my personal blog to here on my beauty blog, I've created a new MySpace account for all my beauty pals. I'm switching ALL of my makeup pictures to the new account, and all of my group memberships as well. The new MySpace account will be for all beauty friends and other non-personal "friendships".

I'm doing all of this because before long I do plan on getting into the YouTube thing and doing more with my blog, and once that happens I'd like to keep the rest of my life (my kids and such) private/separate.

The new MySpace account is myspace.com/_mamalaura (same as Twitter) so add me!
